Pros
Population Decrease
One thing is sure of China’s One-Child Policy; it is very affective in limiting population growth. In the years just after the One-Child Policy was put in act, the number of only children in China rose to 91 percent. Without the One-Child Policy, China’s current population would be thirty percent (about 300 million citizens) larger than what it is now.
Family
In China, the life expectancy of citizens has increased under the One-Child Policy. Because of this, grandparents are much more likely to be alive while their great-grandchildren and grandchildren are living; this means an increased number of stem or joint families. The 2000 census indicated that approximately 1/5 of all households are three or more generations. In households of three generations, family ties are much stronger. The One-Child Policy has led to a more unified sense of family throughout China.

Two-Child Policy?
By 2015 it is expected that the Chinese government will abolish the One-Child Policy and replace it with the two child policy. This would mean that the fines and punishments for couples that bear two children would no longer be enforced. Allowing two children per couple would create more freedom amongst Chinese citizens.
